Kalikos - Finnish Gloranthan association
Kalikos was founded in Helsinki on 8.12. 2001 as a meeting ground for all
Finnish Glorantha hobbyists. The name of the association refers to one of
the many Gloranthan gods, Kalikos Icebreaker, a great warrior tasked with
fighting the cold winter gods to bring spring to the lands.
Finland has for long had a major concentration of RuneQuest and
Glorantha fans, many of whom contribute to the international community on
the internet and also in published magazines. Unlike many other
countries however, there hasn't been a unifying organisation for
Gloranthaphiles - until now.
The purpose of this association is to make known the awesomely rich fantasy world of Greg
Stafford, gather together Finnish Glorantha fans, organise gatherings,
and participate in Finnish and international conventions. We are also
supporting a Finnish discussion forum about RuneQuest, Hero Wars and
Glorantha and plan on publishing an English-language magazine.
Kalikos supports the whole field of Gloranthan activity, including
pure fiction, role playing games (Hero Wars and RuneQuest), even board games and computer games
(Dragon Pass, Nomad Gods, King of Dragon Pass).
In the beginning of 2007, our membership numbered about 80 people. Our membership fees for 2007
are 10 euros for full membership (including
a discount on the magazine) and 5 euros for
junior members under the age of 16.
